I had very low expectations at first, which I think helped a little. I started watching it for Gary, but kept up with it because I just really like getting a new perspective on the usual superhero stories. And all of the characters have grown on me, so I'm not bored when Gary is absent.
Thus far, I've liked season two even more than season 1--I think the show knows itself better, both in terms of what it can deliver and in what kind of story it wants to tell.
